3. The Return of “the Hayemaker”.

David Haye’s return against Joe Fournier is completely flying under the radar this weekend, and it’s a little bit surprising.

Former heavyweight David Haye has retired twice now from the sport of boxing, and although he’s not proclaiming this to be a full-fledged comeback he has left the door open for a full-on comeback if everything goes well on Saturday. He’s an interesting case on this card, as he’s not that old, and when he retired he wasn’t some ridiculously washed fighter.

Haye (28-4) retired back in 2018 following his loss to Tony Bellew. He was still a championship-level boxer, he had just accrued so many injuries he was seemingly forced into retirement.

Now having had three years to heal up from those injuries, at the age of 40, Haye is not a dinosaur— unlike many on this card. It’s not entirely out of the realm that if everything goes well against the 9-0 Joe Fournier this weekend, we could see Haye attempt to go on a run.

Obviously, there’s a lot of “ifs” involved in this situation, but David Haye’s return is a storyline worth watching.
