2. Silva’s boxing career rolls on.

Anderson Silva always had an interest in boxing, as even during his prime he was talking about crossing over and potentially fighting Roy Jones Jr. Of course, he couldn’t do that, mainly due to UFC contractual issues. However following his release from the promotion in 2020, Silva announced his return to the boxing ring for the first time since 2005. His first match was set against former champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June 2021.

Despite going in as a huge underdog Silva would outclass the former champion, and just like that, the combat world was focused on Silva once again, this time in a different sport. Next, it was announced that Silva will be taking on former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz at Triller Fight Club. It’s a bit of a weird step back for Silva, going from fighting a former boxing champion still in his prime at 35 to fighting a fellow MMA fighter in a boxing ring, but they’re set to go nonetheless.

This fight is one to watch for a couple of different reasons, but the main one is because if Silva wins, it sets up so many different possibilities. If Silva wins he could be facing a Paul brother next, maybe Vitor Belfort in a rematch if Belfort is successful, he could possibly even get that dream fight with Roy Jones Jr if he wins.

Somehow at the age of 46, Anderson Silva still has the combat sports world in the palm of his hand.
