8. Matt Mitrione vs. Travis Browne
Is that Matt Mitrione, or Sloth from The Goonies?
Okay, so maybe it isn’t that bad. Still, Mitrione’s right eye was a mess following his UFC Fight Night 81 showdown with Travis Browne in January 2016. “Meathead,” a former football player introduced to the fight game on The Ultimate Fighter 10, was in the final fight of his UFC deal that night, and had to endure two eye pokes and a broken orbital bone in a TKO loss to Browne.
It turned out to be Mitrione’s last fight in the promotion. He’d move on to Bellator MMA, winning his next four fights, including a knockout of heavyweight great Fedor Emelianenko.
Still, when you think of “Meathead” it’s hard not to think of this lasting image from the Browne fight.
