Sean “Tarzan ” Strickland (20-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC)

Welterweight (170lbs): 5-3 (UFC)

Middleweight (185lbs): 2-0 (UFC)

Sean Strickland has been in the UFC since early 2014 but is still on the right side of 30 at 29 years old. Strickland made his debut at 185lbs and has amassed a 15-0 record while in the weight class during the first part of his career. This includes Strickland’s first two UFC fights which also won at middleweight.

Strickland made the decision to switch weight classes in early 2015 and made the 15lb drop to 170lbs. However, he lost his debut in the weight class to Santiago Ponzinibbio. Sean was long for the middleweight division at 6’1″ and his 76″ reach; at welterweight it was an even more pronounced advantage. Strickland did well in the welterweight division but ultimately lost 3 times, losing his perfect record. However, those 3 losses were against high-level competition with his other two losses being to Kamaru Usman and Elizeu Zaleski. Strickland will be ending his eight fight experiment at welterweight and moving back up to middleweight, where he is undefeated, for UFC Vegas 12.
