Dusko Todorovic performed as advertised in his promotional debut at UFC Fight Island 4, finishing Dequan Townsend in the second round.

Middleweight Dequan Townsend found himself with his back to the wall Saturday heading into UFC Fight Island 4. The American entered the night on a 0-3 stretch, and was likely fighting for his job in Abu Dhabi. And in no way, shape or form had he been given as easy out. Townsend was paired up with 9-0 Dusko Todorovic. The undefeated fighter had seen a trio of dates with John Phillips fall through, and would no doubt be eager to finally get back to work.

Todorovic started things with a head kick that got deflected, then rushed in with a flurry of strikes that stunned Townsend. Townsend clinched up out of desperation, but that didn’t work as Todorovic bucked him off and landed a left. A clinch battle ensued and they traded knees below the belt, with Todorovic’s causing a pause in the action. When action resumed, Townsend landed a few shots, but Todorovic got him right back into the clinch. Some clinch striking got through for Todorovic, then they reset to the center of the cage. Soon after, Todorovic rocked him with a combination and pursued a finish, but Townsend gave him enough to worry about to help him survive the round.

Todorovic started quickly in the second round with a flurry of hooks, but Townsend fired back to slow him down. After spinning kicks missed for both fighters, Todorovic slammed Townsend to the ground and got into half guard. The ground-and-pound started coming down and he transitioned to mount. Townsend was able to get out of mount, but not for long. The second time Todorovic got the dominant position, he tried an arm-triangle, bailed on  it, then unloaded enough ground and pound to get the stoppage.
