Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson (18-6 MMA, 10-6 UFC)

Light Heavyweight (205lbs): 10-6 (UFC), 3x UFC Light Heavyweight title challenger

Heavyweight (265lbs): Making UFC Debut on July 25th

Alexander Gustafsson’s last fight in the UFC was in June of 2019 when he lost by submission to Anthony Smith in the fourth round. An emotional Gustafsson retired immediately after the fight, and all was quiet until about six months later. Alexander would grow to regret his decision to retire and would ultimately announce his return to the UFC. But this time ‘The Mauler’ will be returning to the UFC as a heavyweight. Alexander’s build is comparable to Jon Jones, one of the best fighters of all time, who he shared the octagon with twice. Jones has been rumored to be considering a move to the heavyweight of his own, so ‘The Mauler’ will have the eyes of both competitors and fans on him for a multitude of different reasons. Gustafsson is just 33 years old, with potentially plenty of career left, especially at heavyweight where fighters regularly compete at a high level deep into their 30s and even past 40, thanks to no excessive weight cut.  At 6’5″ and a 79″ reach, Gustafsson certainly has the size to fit nicely into the heavyweight division.
