Ricardo Lamas was born and raised in Illinois and will be heading home for UFC 238 when he takes on rising 145er Calvin Kattar.

Phillip Thompson of the Chicago Tribune first reported the addition to UFC 238.

Ricardo Lamas has resided in the top-10 of the featherweight position since the division’s inception. Kattar just recently broke into the top-15 and will be taking on Lamas in his fifth Octagon appearance.

Ricardo Lamas was 4-2 in the WEC before catching his stride when the UFC absorbed the promotion. He moved down to featherweight when he made his Octagon debut and won his first four fights. Most notably, he earned stoppage victories against Cub Swanson and Erik Koch. The streak gave him a title shot against kingpin Jose Aldo. Since then he is 6-4. “The Bully” defeated Darren Elkins by TKO in his last appearance, stopping a two-fight skid.

Calvin Kattar had a great run on the regional scene, going 16-2 before replacing Doo Ho Choi on short notice against Andre Fili. Kattar defeated the veteran by decision and fought fellow prospect Shane Burgos in his next fight. It was a brilliant battle, earning Fight of the Night and ending 30 seconds into the final round with a Kattar knockout. Kattar fell to top contender Renato Moicano then rebounded with a first-round TKO against Chris Fishgold.

UFC 238 takes place on June 9 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Headlining the card will be flyweight champion Henry Cejudo against Marlon Moraes for the vacant bantamweight belt. Valentina Shevchenko will also be defending her flyweight title against Jessica Eye. The next possible flyweight and strawweight title contenders will be determined when Katlyn Chookagian fights Joanne Calderwood, and Tatiana Suarez battles Nina Ansaroff.
