Combate Americas announced a two-part televised event that will begin on March 8 that will feature fighters from Spain and Mexico competing against each other.

Combate Americas announced a pair of events that will be televised as a special “Mexico vs Spain” competition. “Part 1” will take place on March 8 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and will feature a lightweight main event between Alvaro Herrera and Ignacio Capella.  “Part 2” is a yet to be announced event that will take place this Fall in Spain.

Mexico’s Alvaro “Chango” Herrera (9-6) was a participant on The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 and despite not winning the show, was offered a contract after a 30-second knockout at the season finale. After being released from the UFC following a three-fight skid, Herrera was picked up by Combate Americas and will be making his promotional debut in his hometown of Guadalajara at the event.

Opposing Herrera will be Ignacio “Levium Armorum” Capella (5-1) of Spain. Capella is also making his promotional debut and is riding a five-fight win-streak consisting of all finishes. He most recently defeated Christophe Rea in April.

Victor “Periquito” Hugo Madrigal (7-2) picked up his first victory in Combate Americas last April by stopping Cristian Quiñonez in an epic back-and-forth contest that saw him secure a third round submission.

Zebenzui “El Niño Roca” Ruiz (7-2) was expected to participate in the Copa Combate last December but was unable to secure a visa to participate in the tournament. The 25-year-old Ruiz is riding a four-fight win streak and has scored finishes in all seven of his professional victories.
