An important women’s featherweight scrap has been added to Bellator 217 in Dublin next month.
Bellator 217 will return to Dublin, Ireland later this year, and Dublin’s own Sinead Kavanagh will be on the card. The SBG Ireland featherweight is set to take on Olga Rubin at the event, which takes place next month. Bellator officials recently announced the news via press release. In addition to Kavanagh vs. Rubin, a number of preliminary fights were also unveiled for the event.
Kavanagh (5-3) is 2-3 since moving to Bellator MMA from BAMMA, and will enter the fight off a loss to Janay Harding. That came back at Bellator 207 in October 2018. Despite her struggles to find consistency in the cage, Kavanagh remains a potential challenger to champion Julia Budd if she can string a couple of wins together. Such is the situation with the relatively shallow women’s featherweight division.
Olga Rubin (5-0), meanwhile, is a fighter to watch in the weight class. Perfect through five fights, she has won her first two trips to the Bellator cage, against Joana Filipa Magalhaes and Cindy Dandois. Three of the Israeli fighter’s five wins have come via finish.
Bellator 217: Gallagher vs. Graham takes place at the 3Arena on February 23, and will be broadcast on both Paramount Network as well as DAZN.com following prelims available right here on Cageside Press!
