Sijara Eubanks is sticking to the UFC 230 card, as she’ll meet fellow Ultimate Fighter vet Roxanne Modafferi at flyweight.
Despite losing out on a shot at the UFC women’s flyweight championship at UFC 230, Sijara Eubanks is staying on the card. Eubanks, who was briefly booked opposite Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant 125lb title, was yanked when Shevchenko was moved back to a previously scheduled title fight against Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231. Instead, the Ultimate Fighter 26 finalist will face Roxanne Modafferi in New York next month.
Eubanks (3-2) was supposed to fight in the inaugural women’s flyweight championship bout against Nicco Monanto at the TUF 26 Finale last year. However, a blown weight cut saw her pulled off the card. Modafferi, who Eubanks defeated on the show, stepped up on barely 24 hours notice, losing a decision. After some time off, Eubanks returned at UFC Utica, earning a unanimous decision over Lauren Murphy.
‘Sarj’ was none to happy with being yanked from the UFC 230 title fight just days after it was announced.
I run this division. Fuck you

The fight with Modafferi (22–14), however, should help smooth things over. Modafferi most recently defeated Barb Honchak by TKO at the TUF 27 Finale, and has won three of her past four fights, all via stoppage. A pioneer on the women’s side of the sport, Modafferi has looked rejuvenated of late. On TUF 26, she finished both Shana Dobson and Emily Whitmire before running up against Eubanks.
UFC 230 takes place November 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Daniel Cormier defends the UFC heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis in the main event.
