The UFC has lost one half of its UFC Fight Night 137 main event in Sao Paulo next month, as Glover Teixeira is off the card due to injury.

An injury has forced Brazil’s Glover Teixeira off of the upcoming UFC Sao Paulo (UFC Fight Night 137) card. First reported by AG Fight, Teixeira is out of the event, where he was part of the main event against fellow light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa. The UFC has not officially confirmed the news, but will no doubt be looking for a new opponent for Manuwa, who is ranked fifth in the UFC’s 205lb division at the moment.

Teixeira (27-7), the UFC’s eighth ranked light heavyweight, took the fight against Manuwa in something of a quick turnaround after losing to Corey Anderson at UFC Hamburg just a few weeks ago. The loss continued a recent streak of the Brazilian trading wins and losses. Prior to the Anderson fight, Teixeira had got back in the win column against Misha Cirkunov.

In short, Teixeira is a long way removed from the twenty-fight win streak that he rode into a title fight with Jon Jones in 2014.

Manuwa (17-4), meanwhile, has lost two straight, to Jan Blachowicz and Volkan Oezdemir. That has seen his name slip from title talk, to be replaced by the likes of Corey Anderson and Anthony Smith (the latter of whom fights in October at UFC Moncton).

UFC Fight Night 137 takes place in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 22, 2018.
