
Philadelphia — Flyweight Jose Ochoa was to face off against Charles Johnson this Saturday, August 15, part of the UFC 330 main card at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
That fight is no more. Ahead of Wednesday’s media day, attended by outlets including Cageside Press, promotion officials announced that Ochoa (9-2, 1NC) was out of the bout due to injury.
A new opponent is now being secured for “Inner G” Johnson (19-9).
The flyweight fight was to be part of Saturday’s main card. The event is headlined by a welterweight title fight between champ Islam Makhachev and Irish star Ian Machado Garry. A second title fight serves as co-headliner, with Mackenzie Dern putting her strawweight title on the line against Canadian Gillian Robertson.
The card has been somewhat maligned by fans complaining about the lack of star power involved. Outside of the top two fights, there’s not a single ranked fighter competing at UFC 330.
