UFC 331 in Los Angeles has a featherweight fight signed, featuring an all-time Bellator great taking on a UFC Hall of Famer.
September’s Los Angeles-based card is the landing spot for Patricio Pitbull (37-9), who returns to action against South Korean Doo-Ho Choi (17-4-1).
MMA Fighting was first to report the match-up, with Choi confirming the booking (and UFC President and CEO Dana White giving a couple of fist bumps on the post) on social media.
Pitbull (Patricio Freire) arrived in the UFC in 2025 after requesting and being granted his release from the PFL, who acquired Bellator a year prior. The Brazilian is 1-2 in the company so far, with his lone victory coming against Dan Ige. That showing was sandwiched between losses to Yair Rodriguez and fellow Bellator ex-pat Aaron Pico.
During his Bellator run, Pitbull, younger brother of Patricky Pitbull, captured both featherweight and lightweight gold in Bellator, briefly holding the titles simultaneously. He’d also make a failed attempt at bantamweight gold before shifting his focus back to the featherweight division.
Choi has won three straight fights, and is coming off a win over Daniel Santos in March that picked up Fight of the Night honors. The South Korean was inaugurated into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2022 alongside Cub Swanson for their UFC 206 classic.
UFC 331 takes place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA on September 19, 2026.
