Middleweights Zach Reese and Ryan Gandra faced off on the UFC 329 preliminary card at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, a card headlined by the return of Conor McGregor.
Reese was looking to bounce back from a loss earlier in the year, while Gandra had won his promotional debut last time out. That after earning his way into the company via DWCS.
Violence was on the docket as the two middleweights took center stage. Ryan Gandra engaged first, pawing with an overhand to set the tone. Reese answered with a sharp body kick and a series of hooks, but the fight ended in a blink.
Gandra slipped inside and uncorked a dipping left hook over the top of Reese’s guard, sending him crashing to the canvas. Wasting no time, Gandra followed with heavy ground-and-pound, forcing the stoppage just over a minute into the fight.
With another emphatic performance, Ryan Gandra continues his rapid rise in the UFC. The former Dana White’s Contender Series graduate improves to 10-1 as a professional and 2-0 in the promotion, while Reese suffers his second consecutive defeat. He’s now 4-4, 1NC in the UFC overall.
Official Result: Ryan Gandra def. Zach Reese by TKO (punches), Round 1, 1:15
