All eyes were on the flyweight division at UFC Winnipeg as Jasmine Jasudavicius defended home soil against surging contender Karine Silva in a high-stakes matchup on Saturday night.
Round 1: Silva and Jasudavicius met in the center of the Octagon to begin their bout, each working to establish footwork and range. Silva stayed active on the outside, frequently switching stances as she looked to control distance.
Silva opened the striking with a calf kick while Jasudavicius attempted to establish her jab, though she struggled to land cleanly against Silva’s movement. A sharp overhand right from Silva prompted Jasudavicius to close the distance and clinch, where the two briefly exchanged before separating.
Jasudavicius then charged in for a body lock, absorbing a pair of knees before returning fire and completing a takedown, landing on top. From there, Silva quickly secured full guard and elevated her legs, threatening with a triangle choke as she worked to tighten the position.
Jasudavicius remained composed under pressure and managed to survive the remainder of the round.
Round 2 – The second round began much like the first, with Jasmine Jasudavicius struggling to close distance against the constantly moving Karine Silva. Silva baited her forward and made her pay with a sharp elbow up the middle.
Jasudavicius responded by shooting for a single leg, but Silva quickly wrapped up a guillotine. As Jasudavicius worked to defend the choke, Silva used the moment to disengage and return to the feet.
The pace increased as the two entered a scramble that led to Jasudavicius securing top position, where she landed steady ground-and-pound. Silva went inverted at times to protect herself from the incoming strikes, but Jasudavicius stayed active, landing a couple of clean elbows before the round came to a close.
Round 3 – Silva came out firing calf kicks to the lead leg and Jasudavicius continued her jabs and 1-2 attacks. Jasudavicius shot in for a double leg, got the takedown, and was able to avoid submission attacks that began flying her way immediately.
Silva snuck in a triangle attempt and Jasudavicius began to fight to posture up right away. Jasudavicius defended the submission attempt and stayed on top passing to side control. The fight remained on the ground with Jasudavicius passing to mount and then stopping Silva from escaping the position.
Silva looked to scramble, Jasudavicius stayed on top, and the round ended with the Canadian landing ground and pound.
Official Result: Jasmine Jasudavicius def. Karine Silva via Unanimous Decision (29-28×3)
