UFC Winnipeg is official, with no misses at Friday morning’s weigh-ins in snowy Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Yes, fighters in town for the event woke up to snow (or some mix of that and freezing rain), a shock to the system from anyone flying in out of Vegas, or who was at last weekend’s UFC 327 in Miami.
With nine Canadians on the card, the home “town” crew so to speak were no doubt prepared. All nine made weight easily, with Melissa Croden the last of the bunch to weigh in. The very last fighter overall to hit the scales, meanwhile, was John Castaneda. His fight with Mark Vologdin was shifted to a 139lb catchweight ahead of the morning weigh-in session, with struggles during one fighter’s weight cut the culprit, sources told Cageside Press on Friday.
Still, no official misses, though the card is down one fight after Mitch Raposo fell ill ahead of his fight with Allan Nascimento. That flyweight bout has shifted to June.
