UFC Baku: Myktybek Orolbai Put Legal Career on Hold to Pursue UFC Title

That said, during Wednesday’s UFC Baku media day, Kyrgyzstan’s Orolbai added that “Krygyz are warriors, we’re Krygyz warriors. God gave me this fight, but I have a big surprise for you on Saturday.”

If you believe in a higher power, then God might have given Orolbai the fight, but he gave Musayev home field advantage. Musayev will be fighting at home in Azerbaijan, but Orolbai believes a couple of months of hard training has him ready for the task at hand.

“I know Tofiq is a really good fighter, he stands for his country,” said Orolbai, speaking via translator. “I was preparing really hard for the last two months for this fight, so you guys can expect to see a really good fight this Saturday.”

Myktybek Orolbai is a rather unique figure in the UFC, having obtained a law degree prior to joining the promotion. That legal career is on hold for the time being, however, as he pursues greatness inside the octagon.

“I have a law degree, but I haven’t worked even one day as a lawyer,” he noted this week. “I have a goal right now, and my mission is to get a UFC title. Once I get that UFC title, then I’m going to pursue my career as a lawyer.”
