UFC flyweight Joshua Van extended his win streak to 4 at UFC 316 on Saturday night, and is aiming high for his next bout he hopes gets him closer to a title shot.
“Sh*t whatever get me closer to the belt. That’s what I want next,” Van told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.
“I’m not really the guy to call people, but I heard the UFC is coming to Texas. I also heard (Brandon) Moreno want to fight on UFC Noche. So Texas vs. Mexican, you know what I mean?”
Van (14-2) is hoping that a win over Moreno will get him on the short list for a title shot. A fight of that magnitude, at Noche UFC in San Antonio, would likely be a main event.
“Brandon Moreno, before I got to the UFC, he was always nice to me. I didn’t call him out to disrespect him. Respectfully, I want to fight him, but whatever the UFC give me. They give me him I’ll be ready. If they want to give me somebody else I’ll be ready too,” he said.
On top of that former UFC featherweight Daniel Pineda, Van’s coach, made a bet with the fighter before UFC 316. The finish of Bruno Silva won Van the bet.
“Daniel Pineda was talking about coming out of retirement for that one. He said if I get the finish he’ll come out of retirement. That was the deal we made,” he said.
