Los Angeles – UFC lightweight Beneil Dariush has to laugh when people ask him about retirement and not his opponent at UFC 311 Renato Moicano.
Moicano is older than Dariush just with less gray hair.
“I think I’m a little bit younger than him. I think I’m a couple months younger than him,” Dariush told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“I think it’s pretty funny. If that’s the case one old guy’s gonna get beat up basically.”
Dariush (22-6-1) is not one to go with the trash talk, or even any colorful language, but he did respond to Moicano calling him an old.
“That old piece of poop is going to get it,” Dariush said laughing.
The lightweight is based out of Southern California and finally gets a home game of sorts at UFC 311. With that comes a contingency of local supporters with family and friends.
“People are texting me. They’re telling me they’re coming to the fight and they’re stoked. I’m stoked too you know. I’m expecting more people than usual,” he told Cageside Press.
One of those coming to the fight is his wife. Other than media, fans and Moicano calling him old, it’s been his wife who has been poking at one particular factor of old age. The gray hair has been a hilarious talking point when speaking about Dariush for the past couple of years.
Would he dye it?
“You sound like my wife. That’s what she tells me all the time. ‘Why don’t you just dye your hair. We have this event coming up. Think about how you’ll look. What about your mom? She’ll be so excited to see you looking younger’ blah, blah, blah,” Dariush said.
“I don’t think I look terrible with gray hair, and the other issue is, bro this is how God made me. I was built to take more stress in. It just results in gray hair. If it falls out that’s when the real issues start. Let’s see if my wife will still love me.”
