Deiveson Figueiredo Makes His Case For A Title Fight At 135

Las Vegas – UFC bantamweight Deiveson Figueiredo is only down for title shots or fights that get him to title shots and after beating a former champion at UFC 300.

“I’m a former champion in the other division I’m coming up and winning in this division, and I want to fight for the championship,” Figueiredo told Cageside Press among other media through a translator at his post-fight scrum on Saturday at UFC 300.

“The fight against (Brandon) Moreno there was a mistake in my view so I think I deserve to fight for the championship next.”

Figueiredo (23-3-1) wants a title fight and the champion Sean O’Malley is set to face #1 contender Merab Dvalishvili.

“I’m 100% I’m ready to fight again. Be it Sean O’Malley, be it Merab, whoever it is. Whatever Dana decide I’m going to be in,” he said.

At UFC 300 Figueiredo scored a submission victory over former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt which was a rebooking from a bout they were supposed to have at flyweight years ago.

“This was an incredible night. I came off a victory over a (big) name guy Cody Garbrandt very tough guy. This just shows what the new chapter in my career’s gonna be,” he said.
