Olympic bronze medalist Robelis Despaigne, a Taekwondo practitioner and towering heavyweight, made his octagon debut at UFC 299 on Saturday, taking on Josh Parisian early in the Miami card.

Despaigne’s last three fights had ended in a combined total of 19 seconds, though in Parisian, he was getting a significant step up in competition.

MMA fans have been excited to see how Despaigne stacks up against the best the heavyweight division has to offer in the UFC. He drew Parisian in his UFC debut, but if this fight was a preview of his future in the promotion, fans will once again be excited about the big guys fighting.

The fight started and Despaigne threw a headkick. He lost his balance and Parisian blitzed in. When he did he ate a right-left-right from Despaigne putting Parisian down and away in under a minute.

In the post-fight interview Despaigne explained that he’s excited to finally make it to the biggest promotion in the world, and then said something that came out a big broken. He repeated it, and confused even his translator.

No worries though, Joe Rogan was on hand to figure it out.

“Follow me on Instagram.”

Official Result: Robelis Despaigne def. Josh Parisian by knockout (punches), round 1, 0:18
