Bogdan Guskov is a promising addition to the UFC’s light heavyweight division, but he was given a hefty test in his debut at UFC Paris on Saturday: Volkan Oezdemir.

A former title challenger in the weight class, “No Time” was looking to bounce back from a recent rough patch that had seen him post a 1-3 record across his last four fights.

It turned out, the test was just a little too much for Guskov to overcome at the Accor Arena in Paris, France on Saturday.

Newcomer Guskov took some big shots early on in the fight. He took absorbed heavy leg kicks and a big right hand followed by a left hand. He did get some respect back with a nice uppercut but Oezdemir got an easy scoop takedown. Guskov got up pretty quickly and landed a hard strike. Oezdemir took it and landed another heavy leg kick that was doing damage.

Guskov then came in with his hands low and got clipped with a counter left. Oezdemir capitalized and dropped Guskok. Oezdemir easily took the back and finished with a rear-naked choked. A rude welcome to the UFC for Bogdan Guskov.

Official Result: Volkan Oezdemir def. Bogdan Guskov by Submission (rear-naked choke), Round 1, 3:46
