Song Yadong Looks For Knockout Of Rob Font, Praises Team Alpha Male

Las Vegas, NV – One of MMA’s best-known teams is based out of Sacramento, CA, Team Alpha Male which boasts a roster that includes fighters like Yan Xiaonan, and Song Yadong.

“I love Urijah (Faber), and Cody (Garbrandt). My coach he put a lot of time (into) me. I (brought) so many of my friends like Yan, so many Chinese fighters we come here, we’re happy to stay here,” Song told Cageside Press at UFC X during International Fight Week.

Song (20-7) is set to take on Rob Font at UFC 292 in Boston on Aug. 19th in what will likely be the biggest fight of his career.

“I’m so excited for the fight. It’s a good opportunity for me (to) go up,” he said.

Plenty of bantamweight bouts on the card including the main event that will see the title be defended by Aljamain Sterling against the challenger in Sean O’Malley. It’s normal practice these days to have a backup fighter weigh-in and be ready to step into the title fight should either participant be unable to do so.

“I’m ready for that, yeah,” Song said about the possibility of being the backup for that fight.

Task at hang for Song is Font who is a tough fight for anyone, but would be a huge name on his resume should he be able to beat him.

“I’ll knock him out. First round or second round, I’ll knock him out, for sure.”
