Vitor Petrino Happy With Submission Victory, Wants To Fight In Brazil

Las Vegas, NV – Fresh off his first career submission victory at UFC 290 light heavyweight Vitor Petrino described the emotions pulling it off on what may go down as the best card of the year for the promotion.

“To actually have the first submission in my career in the biggest promotion in the world in a PPV, a numbered card, it’s really good,” Petrino told reporters including Cageside Press through a translator at his post-fight scrum.

Petrino is known more for his striking than his grappling, but when the submission presented itself he had no problem taking it and running with it.

“I took advantage of the opportunity. Training back in the gym, we always do that, the opportunities present themselves. Sometimes we get them, sometimes we don’t take advantage of them, but I think it’s just an opportunity that presented itself,” he said.

The UFC is rumored to be returning to Brazil later this year. With the possibility of fighting back in his home country Petrino said he’d wants to be on the card.

“It would be great to actually fight in Brazil. It would be a great achievement and actually a dream come true if that’s what they want I’ll be ready,” he said.
