Cameron Saaiman Happy To Have Clean Performance, Looking At Fight Before End Of 2023

Las Vegas, NV – This time around a clean performance for UFC bantamweight Cameron Saaiman who defeated Terrence Mitchell at UFC 290 on Saturday night.

“It’s great. It’s really amazing. It was almost like a mantra every single warm up was like ‘No fouls, no fouls, no fous’ so it’s great. Coming in the first round that’s the cherry on the cake,” Saaiman told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.

“I didn’t want there to be any question marks next to my performances. Unfortunately the first two didn’t pan out the way I thought it would, but this one went pretty smoothly.”

With the win at UFC 290, and of course teammate Dricus du Plessis’ big win over Robert Whittaker and possibly set to face champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 in Sydney, Saaiman pondered taking a fight on a quick turnaround for that card.

“I can confidently say September is not happening, but definitely later than September,” he said.

During the broadcast the commentary team mentioned that Saaiman has wanted a bout with former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt which many took as a sign of disrespect. Saaiman wanted to clear the air on the challenge.

“So that everyone knows it’s just out of respect. I have massive respect for him. I’ve chatted a few times with him at the UFC PI as well. He’s a former champion. He’s someone that I’ve looked up to for years,” he said.

“That fight is just plainly I want to test my skills against some of the best in the world and he’s up there in the rankings as well. A win over him can really solidify my contention to get into those top spots.”
