Jasmine Jasudavicius Wants to Do UFC 289 All Over Again — In Toronto

Vancouver, Canada — Canada’s Jasmine Jasudavicius helped Canada go undefeated at UFC 289 on Saturday, the promotion’s return to the Great White North after over three years away.

Jasudavicius (9-2) improved her record in the promotion to 3-1, putting on a strong showing against #15-ranked Miranda Maverick and capturing a unanimous decision win.

Fighting at home for the UFC has been a long time coming for the Niagara Top Team fighter. “I wish that everyone can feel how I feel right now. It was an honor to represent Canada,” Jasudavicius told Cageside Press and other media outlets following the fight. “I felt like going in there, I had Canada on my back. And this was a tough fight. I know she’s number 15 in the world, but I knew I had to be a dog, and I had to represent the country. She wasn’t coming in here and taking this. This is us, this is ours.”

Jasudavicius has repeatedly stated that in terms of her fighting career, she’s here for a good time, not a long time. So what does that entail? Doing it all over again — the feel of UFC 289 — at home, in Ontario.

“This, baby! Ideally this again in Toronto. That’s what I’m talking about. This, the hype,” Jasudavicius exclaimed.

“I’ve got to tell you, my hotel room, I don’t know, the stars are aligning for this week for me.” Jasudavicius explained that “the most gorgeous view in the world” could be seen from her room, which led her to feeling “how grateful and blessed that I am that I have the opportunity to be able to do this, to look out at the beautiful scenery, to travel— this is my job, to travel. This is the scenery I have. And then in the evening, I get to go scrap some broad in the cage. How much of an amazing life do I get to live?”

“I’m just on top of the world, I’m so blessed, I’m so fortunate, and I just— follow your dreams and you could be doing the same sh*t.”

Asked what Canada sweeping the board at UFC 289 said about Canadian MMA, a clearly elated Jasudavicius stated “dude we’ve got a hotbed. Don’t count the Canadians out. We’re here to scrap, we’re a bunch of tough cookies. I think that people underestimate Canada. ‘Oh Canadians are nice.’ I guess we’re nice until we’re in there.”
