Henry Cejudo Reacts To McGregor Comments, Moreno Callout

Newark, NJ – It wasn’t long after his loss to at UFC 288 that former two-division champion Henry Cejudo began to hear the barking on social media from other fighters.

One was fellow former two-division champion Conor McGregor who took to twitter to post a video, since deleted but captured and posted by many on social media, sending the Olympic gold medalist some advice.

Cejudo’s reaction was both hilarious, and one could say completely on-point.

“Man Conor McGregor don’t got sh*t on my resume,” Cejudo told Cageside Press among other reporters at his post-fight scrum.

“He’s been stopped. After three year layoff, what I was able to do, and compete. And then hearing the boos from the crowd once they announced the winner, I mean, that says a lot to me.”

Cejudo took McGregor’s comments in stride, but only to use them as fuel for motivation.

“Even selling this fight like it’s ok man. Bring that hate. Maybe it’ll motivate me. I’m not one of these guys that’s like ‘yeah I’m a little pissed because I hate losing’,” he said.

“I love it. I love it. So thank you, Conor.”

It wasn’t just ‘The Notorious’ that spoke out on Cejudo. UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno, who used to have a close relationship with Cejudo, called him out for a fight in Mexico.

“Guess now everybody wants a piece of me, huh? I guess we’ll talk about it, I mean, money talks. If the UFC wants to put it together, there’s a nice little budget in for both of us,” Cejudo said.

“I ain’t doing it in Mexico though, hell no. We can do it here in America or something like that, but I’m not opposed to any of that.”

Most fans don’t know but Cejudo and Moreno were close at one point. Their stint on The Ultimate Fighter, and eventually Cejudo coaching Deiveson Figueiredo, probably aided in the two splitting apart.

“We were friends at one point. He even lived with me for a minute. Got him on The Ultimate Fighter show. That didn’t work out. We tried to pick him second. He ended up on the other team. He ended up training with (Joseph) Benavidez, and we just became un-friends,” Cejudo said.

“We were close at one point.”
