As one of the fighters who helped push to bring the UFC back to Canada, it would have been borderline criminal not to feature “Proper” Mike Malott on the UFC 289 card.

Thankfully, the promotion has found Malott (9-1-1) an opponent. The Waterdown, Ontario native will face Adam Fugitt (9-3) at the event in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 10.

TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter was first to report news of the booking, which Malott subsequently confirmed on social media.

Malott, along with Jasmine Jasudavicious, let it be known that the promotion needed to return to Canadian soil back at UFC Vegas 71 in February. Malott picked up a win over fellow Canuck Yohan Lainesse that night, improving to 2-0 in the promotion overall.

The 31-year old has won five straight fights.

Fugitt is 1-1 inside the octagon, and coming off a win over Yusaku Kinoshita in February.
