UFC 287: Rob Font Sees Fight Of The Night Bonus Against ‘Grown Man’ Yanez

Miami, FL – With all of the hype surrounding and main and co-main events at UFC 287 one fight that’s sort of been flying under the radar involves two of the more exciting fighters at bantamweight as Rob Font takes on Adrian Yanez.

“Adrian brings it. He’s I believe 5-0 in the UFC. 11-fight win streak. He’s finishing a lot of guys, he’s making bonuses all over the place. So Adrian Yanez-Rob Font it has fight of the night written all over it,” Font told reporters on Wednesday.

Font (19-6) didn’t scoff at the prospect of taking on the up-and-coming Yanez. Even if the younger fighter doesn’t have the resume that Font does it’s still a big fight for the New England Cartel product.

“It was just like let’s just go. I’m ready to get back in there. The way the division was booked and how the fights are working out you had everybody basically booked up. I am fighting backwards, but you know, it is what is it,” Font said.

“Why not deal with an exciting guy that’s going to bring it and stand up and try to take my head off as well.”

Even with Font still at near the top of the 135-pound division it’s still hard for him to see past his opponent this weekend. As much as Font has to gain with a win over Yanez at UFC 287 his opponent may have even more to gain from beating him.

“Man I’m not thinking about anything else but Adrian Yanez right now. This kid, he’s dangerous, I’m not letting him take my number,” said Font.

Treating Yanez as a kid, even if he used the term to describe him, isn’t an option for Font. He knows that Yanez will come to take everything that is his and he’s not looking past him at all.

“I’ve been saying this whole time. I’m not even treating him like a young kid. This is a grown ass man coming in here trying to take my head off. He’s not like 18, you know, he’s a grown man,” Font said.

“He’s a grown man so I’m going to treat him like one.”
