UFC 282: Jairzinho Rozenstruik Says Fight With Ranked Daukaus Is Important

Las Vegas, NV – UFC heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik comes into UFC 282 against Chris Daukaus having had to overcome some tough challenges just to make it back to the octagon on Saturday night.

“It was heavy. It was difficult. But it is what it is, life goes on, and so does my career. I’m here again so I’m happy that it’s fight week. Saturday I definitely want to put down a crazy performance,” Rozenstruik told Cageside Press among other media on Wednesday.

The fight with Daukaus was supposed to happen in October, but then it was moved this December without much of an explanation from the promotion.

“Yeah I got hurt in training, and I need more time so that was it,” Rozenstruik said.

For Rozenstruik keeping the Daukaus fight together was important so he was glad to have it only moved and not canceled.

“I mean it’s opponent. It’s the heavyweight division. He’s ranked so it’s important. The fight’s there. We’re going to do it this Saturday. Yup,” he said.

We’ve seen many a heavyweight stand and trade with Rozenstruik and come out on the other end asleep and the newest meme in the MMA world. Daukaus has said he would not be trying to stand with Rozenstruik in the fight.

“I think he’s a smart man not to do that,” he said.

Rozenstruik comes into UFC 282 on a two-fight losing skid and needs a win against a ranked opponent to get some momentum back towards the top of the division. The mindset with to consecutive losses is simple, the next one is a must win.

“It’s always think like that. I want to win and give everything that I have specially in my camp, and then fight night you want to do everything you specially been training for so it’s important.”
