UFC Vegas 62: Alonzo Menifield Was Concerned For Cirkunov Following KO

Las Vegas, NV – UFC light heavyweight Alonzo Menifield came into UFC Vegas 62 looking to make a statement and did just that with a KO finish of Misha Cirkunov on Saturday night.

Menifield (13-3) rocked Cirkunov with a heavy left hook then landed a right hand to send his opponent to the canvas and end the fight. Cirkunov was out cold and did not get up for a few minutes after the fight was called.

“The feeling was great, but I was concerned about him. You know, you’re like huffing and puffin….and I’m looking like ok, he’s not getting up. So I was concerned. He got up so I was able to enjoy, fully, that feeling,” Menifield told Cageside Press among other media at his post-fight scrum.

“Misha overall is a great opponent as far as being in the sport. Any time you get two warriors in the and one of them don’t get up you kind of should get concerned. I know I would.”

The reality of what they’re doing in the octagon is clear to Menifield.

“At the same time this is the fight game so when he got up yeah I was relieved,” he said.

Menifield did send a message to Cirkunov at his post-fight scrum.

“If I can relay this message to him, I mean, great fight. You caught me man. I had to really dig deep and you know pull that out,” Menifield said.
