Fresh off a massive win that left him with a massive cut, middleweight Gregory Rodrigues has his next assignment set.

“Robocop” Rodrigues (13-4) will take on Brad Tavares (19-7) at UFC 283 on January 21, 2023. News of the booking was first reported by Super Lutas; Rodrigues would later confirm the match-up on social media.

Less than two weeks ago, Rodrigues earned both the win and a Fight of the Night bonus for his performance against Chidi Njokuani at UFC Vegas 60. The victory improved the 30-year old’s record in the UFC to 4-1, with that lone loss coming in a split decision against Armen Petrosyan.

A former LFA middleweight champ, Rodrigues has three post-fight bonuses in five fights, and three stoppages in his four UFC wins. Now residing in Florida, he’ll be returning to fight in Brazil for the first time since March of 2018.

Hawaii’s Tavares is 2-2 in his last four fights, though he is coming off a loss to South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis. Prior to that, Tavares had notched wins over Omari Akhmedov and Antonio Carlos Junior.

UFC 283 will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 21, 2023 at the Jeunesse Arena. No main event has been official announced for the card. The following bouts have been reported for the date thus far:

  • Mounir Lazzez vs. Gabriel Bonfim
  • Josiane Nunes vs. Zarah Fairn Dos Santos
  • Gregory Rodrigues vs. Brad Tavares
