An excruciating four-year injury layoff kept the well-rounded Samoan-Australian fighter Tyson Pedro out of the octagon until his emphatic return earlier in 2022. On Sunday, however, he was in search of his second victory of 2022, against former heavyweight Harry Hunsucker.

In his move down to light heavyweight, Hunsucker looked to rebound from his recent KO losses and play spoiler to the hot prospect and defy the odds — which had him as more than a five-to-one underdog coming into the fight.

The bookmakers were right in this case, however, as Pedro ran through Hunsucker in a minute and five seconds. Tyson stunned his foe with a jab in one of the first exchanges, followed up with a flurry, and finished the fight with a teep kick to the belly that crumpled the American in a heap. Follow-up punches were barely necessary.

Tyson Pedro gave a heartwarming post fight interview where he dedicated the fight to his grandpa, who passed away recently. After two straight first round finishes since his return from layoff it would seem that it’s time to give Pedro a step back up in competition. The prospect is ready.

Official Result: Tyson Pedro def. Harry Hunsucker by TKO (front kick and punches), Round 1, 1:05
