UFC Vegas 54: Louis Smolka Sees His Fight As Similar To UFC 274 Main Event

Las Vegas, NV – Happier and hairier UFC bantamweight Louis Smolka seems to have renewed energy as he comes into UFC Vegas 54 against Davey Grant on Saturday night.

Smolka (17-8), sporting a new haircut, spoke to the media on Wednesday.

“My wife hates it! She hates it so bad. She thinks its poofy, it looks bad at the edges, but I like it. I think it looks like a lion,” Smolka laughed.

Smolka is coming off a knockout loss to Vince Morales in Dec. 2021.

“I mean, I was going to get knocked out eventually, right? You’re going to keep doing this until you retire. Everything and anything is going to happen to you so that’s just how I try to deal with it. I’m not putting too much weight into it. I feel good,” Smolka said.

“I was sad thought. I was incredibly disappointed. You work so hard for something for so long, and try to do everything possible. To have it all taken away from you when it’s all going so well…it’s pretty rough dude it sucked. I was sad. You gotta get over it and I can’t be sad forever so I’ll take a week or two and cry and eat ice cream.”

Smolka faces Grant on the main card this Saturday. Grant has been in his share of wars, and has suffered some set-backs as well.

“Kind of a wider dude, longer reach, throws heavy hooks. Davey Grant does have a bit more variety he showed his last fight,” Smolka said.

Smolka pitched the fight to fans.

“If you enjoyed last week’s main event of Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje. Taller, lanky jiu jitsu guy that throws a wide variety of standing strikes versus a shorter, stockier guy that throws a lot of hooks with reckless abandon, could interest you in Louis Smolka vs. Davey Grant, down here for free! As opposed to paying for the pay-per-view price!”
