UFC Vegas 54: Ion Cutelaba Makes Big Changes To Camp, Looking For Big Win

Las Vegas, NV – The co-main event of the evening at UFC Vegas 54 brings the return of UFC light heavyweight Ion Cutelaba as he takes on Ryan Spann this Saturday night.

Cutelaba (16-6) comes in after changing quite a bit from his fight team and even moving to Las Vegas.

“Being ready psychologically, physically, is very important to me. I’m 101% ready. I have new trainers, better trainers, better partners so I’m ready for this Saturday,” Cutelaba said to reporters through a translator on Wednesday.

“This Saturday big, big win,” Cutelaba added himself.

Cutelaba and Spann were originally set to fight at UFC Vegas 49 in February, but Spann withdrew due to injury.

“Everything is great that’s the way it’s supposed to be. I actually had more time to get ready so everything is good,” Cutelaba said.

Then he took his shirt off and said, “Hey guys, really, I am ready now!”

“I am f*ck yeah ready!”

Cutelaba spoke on his opponent and what he thinks of the fight.

“Yes for me is very good opponent, but is a good guy, but not good fight,” Cutelaba laughed.

“Seriously speaking I like Ryan’s fight. I like to watch his fights. I want to show during the fight what I’m capable of.”

Cutelaba is 2-2-1 in his last five fights so some consistency is needed for him to make a real run at 205 pounds.

“Mainly I just want to prove to myself that I’m better. That my preparation was 100% and of course I want this fight to be exciting for my fans,” Cutelaba said.

Will Cutelaba bring out his famous green paint to come into ceremonial weigh-ins as The Hulk? Cutelaba smiled.

“I paint in white, no green.”
