UFC 272: Tension Between Covington and Masvidal Is Palpable, Genuine or Not

Although Jorge Masvidal came into this UFC 272 fight week kind of downplaying his rivalry with Colby Covington and talking about how this fight isn’t personal, it seems as though the intensity that is going on internally is what both fighters are trying to conceal the most.

Even if a lot of what’s going on and said in the media between these two isn’t as it appears, it’s understandable that fans love the media hype. It’s hard not to notice the press conferences and interviews of the fighters yelling over each other— for the sound bytes alone. But there is going to be no moment as interesting as when all the talk is done and both fighters are making their walk out to the octagon on Saturday night.

However Covington vs. Masvidal unfolds come this Saturday, it’s going to make for a compelling conflict. Because whether or not the beef between these two is totally authentic, totally fabricated, or a mix between the two, the tension is palpable.

That tension will be felt by everyone in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and by everyone sitting at home as the pair make their entrance to the octagon. Where, it’s expected, they’ll solve this thing once and for all.
