UFC Vegas 49: The Persistence of Bobby Green

No King can conquer without taking a considerable gamble, and Bobby “King” Green is doing just that as he steps into UFC Vegas 49 this Saturday on short notice — against the heir apparent to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Bobby Green has a lot of great qualities both as a fighter and a personality, but it’s the spirit of the lightweight slugger that resonates the most with the fan base. He’s incredibly honest, and very forthcoming about all aspects of himself and his game. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and has no qualms about pouring it all out both inside and outside the octagon.

Islam Machachev is probably the single hardest fight in the lightweight division right now. Word is that after Beneil Dariush was forced out of the UFC Vegas 49 main event, basically nobody else wanted to take this opportunity to fight him, and that’s for good reason. But after just days removed from a three-round fight at UFC 271, Green signed on the dotted line for the opportunity of a lifetime.

For Green, it isn’t even so much about the wins and losses as much as it is about the performances, and if there is one thing Green has shown us, is that when the lights are on, he always performs. He’ll look to do that again this weekend, on short-notice, in his first main event, in what is almost certainly the biggest fight of his lengthy career.
