5. Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal

Despite great hope for it at the end of 2020, the fight between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington never did materialize in 2021.  Though they were unsuccessful, the year worked out for both men as they each had high profile shots at the title in 2021.  With both men coming off a second loss to the current champion, one would imagine it would be even easier to make the fight.  Furthermore, there is still a great deal of interest to see the two coach The Ultimate Fighter ahead of the bout.

There is also no question that both fighters would enter the bout in a must-win situation.  For Masvidal, getting back on track after only fighting twice in the past two years is crucial if he wishes to stay at the top of the division.  The situation is similar for Covington who needs a victory if he is to stay in the title conversation amidst the growing line of contenders looking to challenge for the belt in 2022.
