Charles Jourdain put on a dominating performance at UFC Vegas 45, defeating Andre Ewell via decision.

Featherweights Charles Jourdain and Andre Ewell were both looking to get back in the win column at UFC Vegas 45.

For Ewell, who was actually making his 145lb debut in the fight, the situation was a little more dire. While Jourdain was coming off a single loss to Julian Erosa, Ewell had lost his past two fights and was 2-3 in his last five.

Ewell was slick early, being the much more active fighter. He was throwing a variety of kicks to the body, as well as firing a snapping jab. Jourdain was much more measured in his approach, not throwing much early. Eventually, Jourdain began walking down Ewell, who had no problem having his back to the fence. Jourdain landed a huge head kick that landed clean, but Ewell ate it and continued landing quick counters. Jourdain went for a flying knee, but missed and ended up on the mat as a result. Jourdain worked his way back up and ended the round with a huge left hook.

Charles Jordain came out firing to start round two and landed a big left hook. He followed up with leg kicks that began to slow down Ewell and then mixed it up with a head kick that landed. Ewell landed a clean left hand to counter, but it didn’t slow Jourdain down. Jourdain kept up the pressure and began to work the body and slow Ewell down. Jourdain hurt Ewell badly, and Ewell went crashing to the mat near the end of the round. Ewell was able to survive to see round three, however.

Jourdain kept the momentum into the third round, landing combinations and keeping Ewell from getting anything going. However Ewell rocked Jourdain with a nice straight, but Jourdain quickly recovered and kept the pressure on. Jourdain began dominating in the clinch, landing repeated knees to the body that hurt Ewell. Despite throwing everything and the kitchen sink at Ewell in the final seconds including a front kick that sent Ewell flying, he would see the scorecards.

Zero surprise as to the winner in this one, as former TKO champ Charles Jourdain returns to the win column.

Official Result: Charles Jourdain def. Andre Ewell by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 29-27)
