Cynthia Calvillo and Andrea Lee had both had their stumbles during their UFC careers. But at UFC Vegas 42 on Saturday, it was Calvillo looking to snap a two-fight skid, while Lee was hoping to build off a recent submission win against Antonina Shevchenko.

The end result was one few could have predicted.

Both women took the center of the octagon quickly, with no touch of the gloves. They exchanged combos, with Lee landing an uppercut. A minute into the fight and Calvillo tried for a takedown, but Lee defended. Lee landed several power jabs, and Calvillo landed a right hand of her own. Lee partially landed a knee to Calvillo’s body. Lee defended another takedown attempt from Calvillo. Calvillo landed a right hand, and Lee landed a 1-2, followed by a kick that didn’t land. One minute left, and Calvillo jumped on Lee’s back after a trip caused by her catching a kick. Lee escaped, and both women took the center of the octagon to end the round.

A glove touch started round two, and they both got back to exchanging punches. Lee landed a body shot, which hurt Calvillo, and then a knee followed right after. Lee landed a heavy left hook. Lee landed another heavy punch but appeared to hurt her hand in the process. An uppercut landed a for Lee, and Calvillo landed a right hand in response. A 1-2, uppercut, low kick combo landed for Lee with 30 seconds left. She was pulling away, and her corner was enthusiastic following the second round, urging her to finish Calvillo in the third.

She’d never get the chance.

Before the third round started, it was announced Calvillo could not answer the bell. A shocking turn of events, and a huge win for KGB Lee. Lee is now on a two-fight win streak with two finishes. Calvillo has dropped three straight.

Official Result: Andrea Lee def. Cynthia Calvillo by TKO (retirement), Round 2, 5:00
