Kyle Daukaus unfortunately won’t fight this weekend, or rematch Kevin Holland, but he will fight in February.
MMA Junkie was first to report the news that Daukaus, who was supposed to fight this weekend at UFC Vegas 42 against Roman Dolizde, will now fight Julian Marquez on February 19 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Both fighters would confirm the booking via their social media.
It has been a frustrating couple of weeks for Daukaus (10-2-1). He was expected to rematch Holland due to their first fight ending in a no contest following an accidental clash of heads. After that fight fell through, the Philadelphia fighter was supposed to fight Roman Dolizde this weekend; however, that fight got scrapped earlier this week as well. Daukaus was looking to shake off that strange no-contest against Holland, but that will have to wait. Overall, Daukaus is 1-2-1 in the UFC.
Marquez (9-2) was scheduled to face Jordan Wright UFC Fight Night: Ladd vs. Dumont, but a botched weight cut scrapped the fight. Since returning from his two-year layoff in February, Marquez has gone on a winning streak, winning both of his fights, and keeping his 100% finish rate intact. In his return fight, “The Cuban Missile Crisis” would get a come from behind last-minute submission win over Maki Pitolo, earning him a Performance of the Night bonus. Marquez would keep busy and return two months later by putting Sam Alvey to sleep in the second round.
The UFC’s February 19, 2022 event does not have an official location, venue, or broadcast plan announced. The following fights have been reported for the event:
