Bellator 265’s Logan Storely: One Judge Changes Whether Amosov Fights For Title, Or It’s Me

Welterweight standout Logan Storley will have the home field advantage as Bellator returns to South Dakota this Friday.

Storley (11-1) will be looking to bounce back from the first loss of his career, with fans back in the building at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD. “It means a lot to come back to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Family, friends, sponsors all right here in this city, so I’m excited to put on a show for them,” the 28-year old told Cageside Press during the event’s media day on Wednesday.

Storley’s bout with Dante Schiro was only announced at the beginning of August, but the short notice nature isn’t an issue for the Sanford MMA fighter. That’s because, under Henri Hooft and the rest of the gym’s staff, “you’re working on yourself,” said Storley. “Because you know that, especially during the pandemic, guys were changing and falling out. Opponent changes. So you’re just worried about yourself getting better.”

“We put together a good solid camp, and we’re prepared,” he added. “We didn’t miss anything, we didn’t take any shortcuts, and I’m ready to have the best performance of my life.”

The aforementioned first loss of Storley’s career came last November against Yaroslav Amosov, who would go on to claim the promotion’s 170lb title, dethroning Douglas Lima.

“It is what it is. It’s a split decision. One judge changes whether he’s fighting for a title, or it’s me,” said Storley, reflecting on the bout. “Nothing but respect for Yaroslav, but I think I pushed him more than anybody else, and we both had to dig deep.” Despite the close nature of the fight, however, Storley isn’t about to dwell on the loss. “I’ve got to take care of Friday night before I talk about anything else, really that’s all I’m worried about.”
