The Weight Cutting Chronicles: UFC 261

Qileng “Mongolian Murderer” Aori (18-6 MMA, 0-0 UFC)

Flyweight (125lbs): 0-0 (MMA)

Bantamweight (135lbs): 10-2 (MMA)

Qileng Aori stands at 5’7″ and has a 69.3″ reach. Under normal circumstances that would be a big flyweight. But take into consideration that Aori will be making his career debut at 125lbs for his UFC debut at UFC 261, and your eyes might widen a bit. Qileng is also 27-years old, right around the time that some adult’s metabolism begins to slow down and it becomes a little more difficult to lose weight.

Aori has had multiple fights at catchweight including one at as low as 128lbs, which as far as I can tell, is the closest he has ever been to competing in MMA in the flyweight division. Its also worth noting that Qileng has fought at as high as 160lbs (yes you read that right) and at 145lbs, so it goes without saying that Aori will be a fighter to watch on the scales and in the cage for his debut at UFC 261.
