BKFC has signed popular UFC and Invicta FC veteran Pearl Gonzalez to an exclusive multi-fight contract.
Known as ‘The Chi-Town Princess’, Pearl Gonzalez is one of the more visible names among the women competing in MMA nowadays. Gonzalez is the former XFC flyweight champion, and has also contended for gold at 125lbs within Invicta FC. The popular fighter competed in the UFC as well, dropping two fights in 2017 before joining Invicta and going on a run at their title.
BKFC officials announced the news in a press release Thursday.
“Pearl is a tremendous addition to our growing list of female fighters,” said Dave Feldman, President of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. “Her best skillset is striking which makes this the perfect transition for her career. She’s very popular in the combat sports world. Both for her fighting ability in addition to commentating on different platforms. We can’t wait to start working with her.”
In that same press release, Gonzalez stated, “I made the biggest sacrifice of my life, packed up everything and moved to Brooklyn, New York permanently. To train with the greatest female boxer in the world, Amanda Serrano. I promise to dedicate my life to becoming the next BKFC World Champ. Couldn’t be happier to start this new chapter in my life!”
The pride of Chicago, Pearl Gonzalez began her professional MMA career in 2012. Over the course of the last nine years, she has competed under multiple different martial arts rulesets.
In addition to her fifteen mixed martial arts contests, Pearl Gonzalez has been active on the submission grappling circuit as of late. She has performed under the Submission Underground banner and has also competed in Combat Jiu-Jitsu.
This upcoming combative effort will mark the first bare-knuckle boxing contest of Pearl Gonzalez’s near-decade-long career.
Presuming she adheres to the same weight category of her recent MMA bouts, Pearl Gonzalez will join the promotion’s deepest talent pool for the women. The 125lb weight category includes names like Paige VanZant, Christine Ferea, Britain Hart, Jenny Savage, and Taylor Starling.
Specifics on Pearl Gonzalez’s debut bout in BKFC as far as the date, location, and opponent are still TBA.
