A rematch five years in the making will go down in June, in what should lead to fireworks.

MMA DNA was first to report the news that No. 15 ranked bantamweight Marlon Vera will put his ranking on the line against Davey Grant. Grant defeated Vera at UFC Fight Night: Silva vs. Bisping back in 2016 via a dominant unanimous decision.

Vera had posted on social media that he had a fight signed, by saying “Jun19 I’m taking another soul.

Vera (16-7-1) will look to get back on track after losing a unanimous decision against former featherweight champion Jose Aldo on the fight card of 2020 at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal. The Ecuadorian was riding high off his TKO win over “Sugar” Sean O’Malley last year at UFC 252.

Grant (13-4) will be looking to go 2 for 2 over Vera and, this time, take his No. 15 ranking. The English fighter is on a three-fight win streak, with his last two wins being knockouts – receiving Performance of the Night for both of them. He knocked out Martin Day to kick off the UFC’s ‘Fight Island’ run, and then last month, he knocked out Jonathan Martinez at UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Muhammad.

The UFC’s June 19 event does not have an official location, venue, or broadcast plans announced, but it will most likely be at the UFC Apex located in Las Vegas.

The UFC’s June 19 fight card now looks like this:
