There was a lot of pressure put on UFC Vegas 16 main event fighters Jack Hermansson and Marvin Vettori with multiple fights being cancelled earlier in the night, leaving the full card with only eight contests.

Vettori sat at number 13 in the UFC middleweight rankings to start the night (number 12, after Yoel Romero exited the promotion). With the confidence of taking the current champ Israel Adesanya the distance and losing a split decision, he was looking to jump the line into title contention with a win over Hermansson, and stepping in to replace Kevin Holland gave him that opportunity.

For Jack Hermansson, it didn’t matter who was standing across from him Saturday night inside the Octagon. He simply looked to continue the momentum after his impressive heel hook against Kelvin Gastelum this past July 18 on Fight Island.

In the end, Jack Hermansson and Marvin Vettori gave everything they had in a bout that turned out to be Fight of the Night material. Vettori got it done, earning a victory that saw him forced to dig deep, with motivating words from his coaches in between rounds. This was a special fight for the victor Marvin Vettori as he and Jack Hermansson broke the record for significant strikes in a middleweight fight.

Here is how the pros reacted to the UFC Vegas 16 main event between Jack Hermansson and Marvin Vettori.
