In the main event of UFC on ESPN 14 — UFC Fight Island 3 if you prefer — Robert Whittaker earned himself a decision victory over Darren Till. The seven-fight main card delivered in the end, and today we will be taking a look at what is next for the winners of UFC on ESPN 14.

Robert Whittaker

After his win this past Saturday, Whittaker has put himself in a great position to get another title shot. It is believed that Isreal Adesanya will be defending his title against Paulo Costa in September. If this is the case it could possibly mean that there won’t be another title fight at middleweight until the beginning of 2021. If that is the case we could see a number one contender fight between Whittaker and Jared Cannonier. Assuming the timeline works out, it would be perfect for the UFC to book that fight on the same card as Adesanya vs. Costa.

Whittaker’s Next Fight: Jared Cannonier

Khamzat Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev defeated Rhys McKee via TKO this past Saturday. That win gives him two wins within a ten-day time span. Chimaev is emerging as a rising star in the UFC. Drawing a lot of similarities to UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Being an impressive young talent, the UFC should look to push him slow but not too slow. With that being said Chimaev should stay away from the top 15 for his next fight or two. A big name that sticks out is Muslim Salikhov. Salikhov beat Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos at UFC 251 in early July. The timing matches up for both fighters and a win for either fighter would help improve their career significantly.

Chimaev’s Next Fight: Muslim Salikhov

Tom Aspinall

Tom Aspinall was able to TKO Jake Collier in his UFC debut this past Saturday. In his fight, he showed that he packs a pretty big punch. He was able to soften Collier up with some body shots and ultimately ended the fight with a big right hand. Tanner Boser is another heavyweight that won on this past weekend’s card that has a lot of power in his hands. Boser won via TKO over Raphael Pessoa at UFC on ESPN 14. Boser also has a KO victory over Philipe Lins back in June. There couldn’t be a better situation for Dana White than to have two heavyweight prospects getting KOs on the same night.
