Two rising stars in the featherweight division battled for 25 minutes at UFC Fight Island 1, with Calvin Kattar taking out Dan Ige.

For the second main event on Yas Island five days removed from UFC 251, fight fans were gifted a pretty decent main event pitting two men who are looking to capitalize on one another’s momentum and to spark a debate as to whether they should be in title contention for the featherweight title. Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige put their aggressive power on the line to show the world that the top of the division is within their reach.

Coming into this fight, Kattar was chomping at the bit after his TKO victory over Jeremy Stephens back at UFC 249. After his loss to Zabit Magomedsharipov, Kattar waltzed into UFC 249 and quieted the critics that had written him off over the Zabit loss.

Dan Ige stepped into the main event to show that his win to Edson Barboza was no fluke and even went as far to state in the promo videos that he offered a rematch with Barboza, only to have it declined. Ige’s mission since his contender days has been proving critics wrong – so what a perfect match up to put his six-fight win streak in the UFC on the line against Calvin Kattar.

What a fight it was. Kattar and Ige continued to find their connecting shots and after each round both men turned up the pressure, which made this such an entertaining main event.

Here are the reactions to an entertaining five rounds from the main event between Kattar and Ige.
