Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero finally had their highly-anticipated middleweight title clash last night (Sat. March 7, 2020) – and it was not what we expected.

Adesanya and Romero went all five rounds in what many complain was an extremely disappointing fight. Both Adesanya and Romero were extremely tentative in their styles, with Adesanya more so playing the role of counter striker out of respect for the Cuban’s ridiculous power. Throughout the course of the fight, Adesanya badly bruised the lead leg of Romero with low kicks. When it was all said and done, Adesanya did just a bit more to earn the winning nod.

“Stylebender” picked up his first official title defense of his career with a unanimous decision win. Now, with Adesanya vs. Romero in the rearview mirror, it’s likely Paulo Costa – who was sitting cageside for all the action – is next in line for the Nigerian-born champion. With all that being said, the mixed martial arts (MMA) community has taken to Twitter to offer their thoughts on tonight’s main event.

For the most part, even the pros sympathize with the fans, calling the action uneventful. There were even some who suggest they believe Romero should’ve been given the victory on the scorecards. Check out how the MMA community reacted to the main event below:
