Contender Series alum T.J. Brown was making his octagon debut at UFC Norfolk. One of seven newcomers making their debut on the night, Brown came in off Dana White’s Contender Series. Welcoming him to the promotion was Jordan Griffin, who turned 30 a day earlier. Griffin had his back to the wall, having dropped his first two fights in the company.

With the action underway, Brown quickly let Griffin know he was game, dropping him briefly with a counter right and a single leg takedown. Griffin was showing some good defense getting back to his feet but went right back down from a double leg takedown. Griffin was doing well at getting back to his feet but Brown was all over him pulling him back down. Griffin did threaten at the end of the first with two tight guillotine attempts but Brown survived and ended the round on top.

Both men started off firing in the second with Griffin landing a head kick. He then answered a left hand from Brown. Brown shot a bit too far and sloppy for a takedown, but was able to get the ankle to put Griffin back on his back. Griffin had done a good job working from his back to his feet but Brown was giving Griffin no space. Griffin was the most dangerous when Brown was taking him down. Off a takedown, Griffin went for another guillotine but Brown moved into side control. As it seemed Brown was in the clear he went to sleep from a very tight guillotine.

Official Result: Jordan Griffin def. TJ Brown by Submission (Guillotine choke), Round 2, 3:38
